Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Faces Events app

Getting Started

How do I create an account?

Download the Faces Events app from the App Store or Google Play. Tap "Sign In" and enter your South African ID number or passport number. If you've previously registered for a Faces event, your account will be found automatically.

What information do I need to sign in?

You need your South African ID number or passport number, and the email address associated with your event registrations.

I can't sign in — what should I do?

Make sure you're using the same ID number or passport number you used when registering for events. If you're still having trouble, contact us at info@faces.africa and we'll help you access your account.

Events & Results

How do I see my event registrations?

Once signed in, your upcoming and past events are displayed on the home screen. Tap any event to see details including your bib number, distance, and registration status.

Where can I find my race results?

Past event results are available in the Results section of each event. Results include your finish time, position, and category ranking where available.

My results are incorrect — how do I fix this?

Official results are managed by event organisers. Please contact the event organiser directly for result queries. You can also email info@faces.africa and we'll assist.

Live Tracking

What is Live Tracking?

Live Tracking lets friends, family, and supporters follow your position on a map in real time during an event. Your GPS location is shared via a spectator link that you can send to anyone.

How do I enable Live Tracking?

Open the app during an event and tap the Live Tracking option. You'll be asked to grant location permissions. Once enabled, a shareable link is generated that you can send via WhatsApp, SMS, or any messaging app.

Does Live Tracking work in the background?

Yes. Once enabled, tracking continues even when the app is minimised or your screen is locked. This ensures spectators see continuous updates throughout your event.

How do I stop Live Tracking?

Open the app and tap the Stop Tracking button. Your location will no longer be shared and no further GPS data will be collected.

Does Live Tracking use a lot of battery?

Live Tracking uses GPS, which does consume battery. We recommend starting your event with a full charge. The app is optimised to minimise battery usage while maintaining accurate tracking.

Strava Integration

How do I connect Strava?

Go to your Account screen and tap "Connect Strava". You'll be redirected to Strava to authorise the connection. We only access your activity data (read-only).

How do I disconnect Strava?

Go to your Account screen and tap "Disconnect Strava". You can also revoke access from within the Strava app under Settings > My Apps.
